Fiery Night of Fireworks @ NDP

Hey everyone!

We round off our related series on celebrating Singapore’s National Day, with the most anticipated event of the day (actually, night); fireworks!

Fireworks are a rarity in Singapore due to its stringent regulation by the government. The two occasions that fireworks are witnessed in Singapore include National Day and New Year’s Eve, while smaller-scale fireworks are witnessed during Chinese New Year and at Sentosa (in conjunction with a themed light show).

Happy 51st Birthday, Singapore!

Hey everyone!

Singapore may be a relatively young state (compared to many Western countries), but like any independent, sovereign country (except for England!), we too celebrate our independence! Every year on 9th August, Singapore celebrates on National Day with a large-scale parade (National Day Parade, or NDP). The parade is full of lively and engaging spectacles, from marching troops to elaborate stage performances, to the most anticipated event, the fireworks! Read on to enjoy the exclusive sneak peak of this year’s NDP!

Sneaking around Sungei Road Thieves Market

Hey everyone!

This week, we have decided to share another of Singapore’s lesser-known gems and heritage, using one of our favourite mediums; the 35mm film!  Although this week has been dedicated to #HolgaWeek, we do not own any Holga cameras. Hence, our camera of choice for this trip to the middle of Singapore is the White Superheadz Ultra Wide and Slim. This camera is commonly known as the toy wide angle point and shoot film camera (special thanks to Sandra’s sister for letting us use it)!

“Treasures of the World” at the National Museum

Hey there!

Makan Hunt @ Super Star K (Korean Food!!)

Hey everyone! It’s been a while, but this week we’re introducing another Makan Hunt (check out our first one here, featuring dim sum).

One of our favourite cuisine (but mostly Sandra’s) hails from the wonderful country of Korea! Korean food is well-known and a quasi-staple in Singapore, with various dishes making their way into the diet of Singaporeans- thinking of bibimbap, kimchi, Korean BBQ, ginseng chicken soup or bulgogi?

End of #PolaroidWeek

Alas, we have reached the end of #PolaroidWeek.

In this entry, we decided to showcase some of our favourite Polaroids taken this week!

As we are focusing on using our Polaroid Sonar SX-70 this week, we have tried a variety of resources and techniques. For starters, we experimented with black & white and 600 film from Impossible Project (although the latter film requires a Neutral Density Filter as it is more sensitive to light for our poor old Sonar SX-70); tried some long exposures; tried some filters, as well as utilising the MiNT Lens Kit! Just to name a few 🙂
