Shooting Polaroid Spectra B&W Film in 2026

Hi everyone!

One day we spontaneously decided to shoot Polaroid Spectra B&W film, and totally did not expect the results we got. Not only was there full chemistry spread, the photos turned out great!

We shot with the Polaroid Spectra System MS, which our friend managed to get secondhand for only THB 200 in Thailand! We were shooting at Kampong Glam, where the iconic Sultan Mosque is famously captured by tourists and locals alike!

Looking at the Polaroids, we were impressed with the exposure and sharpness! Considering that Spectra film was fraught with complaints over the chemistry spread and film not being ejected properly (leading to Polaroid discontinuing production in October 2019), we were pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

While the Spectra B&W film worked fine, we could not say the same for the Colour film, which we could not get to eject the dark slide at all. Hopefully one day we can put the remaining Spectra Colour film to good use – for now, they will remain safely tucked away in our fridge.

We see that there are camera modifiers/converters in the market, such as using the Polaroid 600 / i-Type film in Spectra cameras – we love the idea and hope it gains traction!

As a final word, we know this is the first blog post that we have shared in almost 6 years! While we remain active on Instagram, we may post on our website once in a while to share our views and experiences with analog film.

Till next time,

Trying out a Modified Instant Wide Back for Mamiya Press Lens!

Hey everyone!

We recently got our hands on a modified Instant Wide film back made for Mamiya Universal Press (MUP) lens! Using a Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 camera, the camera modifier had hacked out the lens and replaced it with a 3D-printed adapter for MUP lenses. We had a somewhat unpleasant experience with a previous camera modifier who was unable to replicate the same setup without encountering issues such as light leaks, and naturally, we were cautiously optimistic about this modified camera.

Three Years @ iLights Festival (2019 Edition)!

Hey everyone!

We have been fervently attending the yearly iLights @ Marina Bay, a smorgasbord of new-age and tech-savvy light installations / performances that comes to life at night! This year also commemorates the Bicentennial anniversary of Singapore, when Sir Stamford Raffles first landed on Singapore, and so the iLights edition for 2019 was launched under that theme.

Commemorating Singapore with the Jubilee Walk

Hey everyone!

If you are a tourist or a local who wish to explore the sights and sounds which make Singapore Singapore (and you also wish to engage in quite  a lot of walking!) then we would highly recommend the Jubilee Walk! The government-initiated trail consists of over 20 landmarks, spanning 8 kilometres in the heart of downtown Singapore. It took over 3 days for us to complete (owing to the fact that the weather has been pretty unpredictable recently), and having done so we decided to share our images captured at these iconic landmarks.

Happy 52nd Birthday, Singapore!

Hey everyone!

Our yearly tradition on our website is to wish our amazing country a Happy Birthday and to share about the National Day Parade and the famous fireworks display at the end! We were blessed with tickets to watch the National Day Parade (Preview), and brought along our  camera gear to capture the parade and the sights that accompanied it. Furthermore, we were with many, many people as we caught and captured the impeccable fireworks display on National Day itself!

Testing our Zone Focusing Skills with the Modified Fujifilm Instax 7s!

Hey everyone!

For most of our cameras featured thus far, we have been aided with the use of viewfinders/rangefinders with either auto-focusing or manual focusing functions. However, there comes a time where we encounter a certain camera which does not have the above capabilities! In those situations, we really had to consider how to focus on our photo subjects well without such focusing functions… and that’s where zone focusing fills in that gap!
